An Interview with Mike DiCerto

************

AC: When did you write your first eBook

MD: Milky Way Marmalade is my first novel, eBook or otherwise. I am a produced screenwriter/director but feel I have found my true medium in the novel. Milky Way Marmalade is available in both eBook (all formats) and trade paperback from Zumaya Publications.

AC: What motivated you to write an eBook?

MD: I am motivated to write. If I had no choice but to skywrite my novels in the Montana sky, I guess I would be out taking flight lessons.

AC: Tell us a little about the book's success, or lack of success.

MD: Great. The pre-publications reviews have been very good. People are not only finding it funny, they are finding it VERY funny. Very original. One of the nicest things said was: "Milky Way Marmalade is a time/space adventure, a Spiritual journey, and a tongue-in-cheek satire bringing truth to the basics. And bringing the basics to the surface, revealing the Truth of the Universe. It's a chase of good versus evil with humor. It's impossible to narrow down to one Genre. It's a must-read. Trust me on this one. Milky Way Marmalade will have you laughing out loud. And pondering the possibilities."

AC: What is the wisest thing you did in terms of eBook promotion?

MD: I started early. Set up my website immediately. Then I started very carefully targeting my audience and using the electronic Google-glass of the internet to locate readers desperate for my book and my book only. ; ) Seek. Promote. Get reviews. ANY reviews. Do not expect the NY Times first time out. Build yourself up to that. If a review results in 2 sales, those are 2 sales you did not have. Remember, people talk (if they love the book!)

AC: What have you learned along the way?

MD: Zumaya has been very helpful and have shown much faith in Milky Way Marmalade. Their editors are terrific. I have learned that any piece of PR can be helpful.

AC: What advice do you have for other eBook authors?

MD: My advice is for all authors. No one should set out to be an eBook writer. Just be a writer. Write. Write. Promote. Write. Promote.
